The Federal Government has awarded a six billion Naira contract for the procurement of textbooks for distribution to schools across the country.
The Minister of Education, Dr Adamu Adamu, stated this in Abuja while briefing State House correspondents on Federal Executive Council’s approval to the request for the award of the contract.
He explained that the textbooks, which were for early childhood care and development and pupils in primary one-to-three, would be delivered in six weeks’ time.
Dr Adamu Adamu said the Federal Executive Council had also approved the construction of a twenty-three-point-seven kilometre perimeter fence around the University of Maiduguri at the cost of over one billion Naira, to be completed in twenty weeks.
He said approval had equally been given for the awarded contract of about two billion Naira for the installation of security equipment around the fence to be erected.
