TRCN sets to weed out unqualified teachers

Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Akwa Ibom State, says modalities have been put in place to phase out teachers without the certificate of the council in the state.

Addressing participants in Uyo, TRCN State Coordinator, Mr Aletor Omonzokpia said that the data of all teachers in public and private schools have been received from Abuja and verification would be carried out as part of the modality to phase out quacks from the profession.

Mr. Omonzokpia explained that the verification was also to authenticate the license of registered teachers and identify those with fake licenses.

The TRCN state coordinator who said registration of qualified teachers was still ongoing in spite of the deadline of December 2019.

He noted that 20,023 primary school teachers were registered, while 8,218 in secondary schools, with teachers outside secondary and primary schools 6,017.
