Three suspected bandits have been killed and two others arrested and handed over to soldiers in Karakkai village of Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State by villagers.
The source, Malam Faruku Aliyu, informed The Punch that there was a heavy fight between the bandits and the villagers Friday night, where the villagers succeeded in killing three of the bandits and arresting two.
According to Faruku, the bandits were in the village to rustle cows but were overpowered by the villagers who came out in large numbers and confronted them.
The Secretary to the district head of Karakkai, Alhaji Mohammed Bashar, while speaking with punch correspondent on the matter said the bandits had gone to the village where they wanted to cart away cows but the villagers refused to allow them to move with the animals.
He explained that the two people arrested and handed over to soldiers were informants from the area who used to furnish the bandits with information on how to carry out their activities.
When contacted on the telephone, the spokesperson for Operation Hadarin Daji in the state, Captain Ayo Oni-Orisan said he’ll get back to our reporter but was yet to as of the time of filing this report.
